Top 10 Ways to Enjoy NYC on a Budget

10. Eat meals at "off" times - eating dinner earlier or later than normal allows for prix fair meals or post-theatre meals, usually a three-course meal at a special offering.

9. Use the subway, instead of cabs!!

8. Utilize deli's for lunch or breakfast.

7. If there are more than two of you arriving in NYC, take a cab and split the fare. You'll save time and money over any of the shuttle services. (Don't forget to keep "singles", dollar bills, on you for taxi's - most drivers don't like to give change)

6. If you are planning to see a Broadway show, stop by the TKTS booth for discounted tickets. Check out the TKTS site for locations and hours of operation. We've found that the South Street Seaport is the quickest for lines.

5. If you are into visiting museums, visit MOMA on Friday night from 4pm - 8pm, it's FREE. Other museums offer discounted days/hours and coupons on their sites. With hundreds of museums in NYC, there's one for every liking.

4. Hoping to go home with a few souvenirs? Visit Canal Street for an unusual, but cheap shopping spree (knock-offs galore).

3. Take in the parks of NYC and all they have to offer! It's nice to grab a beverage and sit on the bench, just to people watch. Our favorites are Union Square, Bryant Park and of course, Central Park. Other faves include Riverside Park and any of the promenades on the Hudson River in West Village.

2. Take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry - it offers a cheap view (FREE) of the Statue of Liberty and the tip of Manhattan Island.

1. Do your research - nothing is worse than running around town, backtracking for those sites you didn't want to miss!
